Under the management of the Manager, IT Security Operations, the IT Security Engineer implements security controls that give effect to company IT security policies and ensures that technical security solutions are optimally configured  to protect the company’s data and information systems from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, disruption, modification, or destruction. 

Core Responsibilities:

•Participates in cross-functional projects to ensure information security requirements are incorporated into system/solution designs and security controls are implemented into these systems/solutions.

•Participate in the development of information security policies, standards, supporting guidelines and procedures, ensuring alignment with company objectives and appropriate standards.

•Develops security administration processes and procedures in accordance with standards, procedures, directives, policies, and regulations.

•Configures, administers and performs required maintenance for all security systems/solutions (including, but not limited to, Firewalls, IPS/IDS, SIEM, and Access Control Systems). 

•Performs security performance testing and reporting, and recommend security solutions in accordance with standards, procedures, directives and policies.

•Ensures that all changes to the security solutions comply with approved change management policies, standards and practices.

•Apply security controls in support of the risk management programme.

•Executes procurement activities in accordance with the Government of Jamaica procurement guidelines.

•Maintains awareness of security threat information and reports on the status  of current threats and the potential impacts to the organization; 

•Executes vulnerability assessments at regular intervals and that implements appropriate controls  to eliminate or otherwise mitigate risk associated with identified vulnerabilities; 

•Tests and deploys system patches and updates to address known system vulnerabilities.

•Contributes to the development of  incident response plans in accordance with security policies and organizational goals;

•Participates in incident response and recovery efforts and prepare security incident reports as required. 


•Bachelor’s  Degree in Engineering  or Computer Science;

•Two (2) years  Information Security experience;

•Previous Networking or Systems Administration experience;

•Information Security certification such as CCSA (or equivalent) is desirable.
